A thousand words.

Our last full day in Tofino and it was beautiful.  After a good amount of my favourite Earl Grey, I got Sonja into the bath.  The skylight in the bathroom is just brilliant for taking photos with early-morning natural light.  Kids in bathtubs are just uber-adorable:

I think I have a new fave pic of Sonja.

We decided we wanted to take the girls on a walk/hike and settled on the South Beach Trail, which ends on an amazing beach.  When we left Huckleberry it was raining/hailing.  When we arrived at the trail, the sun was blazing but it was still chilly.  Just incredible:

We passed this scene along the way.

Two lovely Maple leaf specimens.

Daddy's making sure were headed in the right direction.

What day in the rainforest is complete without a pic of light streaming through the trees?

This looks tiny in the photo.  It was far from tiny.

"Dada, what are the waves doing?"

Taking a break from playing in the sand.

The water would recede and the bubbles would cling to the stones.
You could hear them popping.

Trail marker.

The walk was a highlight of this trip.  Sonja had such a fun time running around in the sand and watching the waves.  It's the first time she has ever seen waves that big and she was pretty mesmerized by them.  Haven was in the Baby Bjorn carrier and near the end of our beach excursion, she was lulled to sleep by the sound of the water and the fresh sea air.

We headed back to base for some well-deserved lunch and the girls had their naps.  With the days getting shorter, we had to rush back out to Chesterman Beach to catch the last wisps of sunlight.  It was well worth it:

Silhouettes in the sunset.

They look like they are running on ice.

The clouds were unreal.

Contemplating the moonrise.

Finding a treasure.

It's times like these when I'm so glad there's a camera in my hand.

"Time to go home soon?"

Light's fading fast.

Yes, it's time to go.

We had such a terrific day and I took loads and loads of photos.  It was really tough narrowing it down to this selection.

Sonja and Haven have handled all the travel and sleeping away from home so well, but tomorrow morning we load back into the truck and make our way home.  I may have some more photos and stories for tomorrow's post, but soon I will be returning to my usual fare of reflection, introspection and nostalgia.  This has been so fun and I hope you enjoy the pics.
