Reason.

New Year's, shmooyear's.

Today marks five years since Peter and I hiked to the top of Mount Work and he asked me to marry him.

Thank you, Babe. I've never been a big New Year's Eve person, but the moment you proposed, you forever gave me a reason to love it.

Far away and close up.

You're either one of those people who enjoys "talking" for your cat/dog/child, or you're not.

Depending on where you fall on the matter, you may find the following post humourous or ridiculous.

Enjoy or I'm sorry.

Snacks! Aaargh!

I eat you now.

Mmm. I told you I eat you. I eat you good.

Snacks forever! Yay!

But if I eat them all, they will be gone. Sad.

Suddenly ...sleepy?

Wait. Mama will give me more snacks. Of course!

So I will eat them ALL!!

What's so funny?

Don't you even THINK about eating my snacks. Mine!

C'mere, you.

Um num num nummmmm!

Wait. What was I pondering earlier?

Ah yes; the wonder of perspective. So cool how I can look so small when I'm far away...

...and SO HUGE when I'm really close!

Make sure you show me those pics later, OK Mama?
Someday I will have a whole book of pictures of me far away and close up.

Hmm. There's something very Sesame Street about that...
I think I saw one of the monsters talking about far away and close up.

Monsters! Grrrrrrr!

Warm day in September.

On a warm day in September with nothing much going on, the rolling drying rack is pretty appealing.

I'm not sure that I would normally have sat and taken so many photos of Sonja and Haven playing with a rolling drying rack (these 20 photos are a fraction of what I actually took), but I remember they were both dressed so cute; Haven in her stretchy-skinny jeans, Sonja in her too-small dress over a skirt and both in their high-top Converse.

At some point I recall thinking that kids innately understand that it's the simple things in life that matter. ...only they just know it as "playing" and "having fun".

All stealthy-like.

We went to Ucluelet at the beginning of September for Peter's cousin's wedding and we stayed at a great bed and breakfast. Peter was in the wedding party and had lots of things to do surrounding the wedding, so I spent most of my time entertaining the girls. I took these shots with my iPhone without Haven realizing and I originally panned them because many of them were out of focus.

Well, it pays to save photographs and go back months later to look at them, because I seriously laughed out loud.

"A little peek..."

"Hmmm."

"Maybe if I just put my whole head inside..."

"Well, what do we have here?"

(Notice the raised pinkie finger; such etiquette.)

"Pay dirt!"

"What?? Yucky, weird-minty gum? You've gotta be kidding me!"

"And a cord thingy? I dug all the way in here for this?"

Needless to say, she hasn't been very interested in looking in my purse since.

Merry Christmas.

I hope you are all having a fantastic holiday!  We had a long but enjoyable day; we opened stockings and presents this morning at home and were at Peter's parents' place this evening with family for supper (and more gifts).

I am officially completely exhausted; time for sleep. I'll leave you with some photos from the day.

This morning:

Stockings!

The pink wig. She wore it all morning!

This evening:

Hummus and juice and all is right with the world.

Playing with their new Strawberry Shortcake and Lemon Meringue dolls.

Hugs.

Looking after her new baby doll.

New flashlight!

"Feed me!"

"Yes, I know I have my own plate. What of it?"
