Christmas tree tour.

I took Sonja to the Empress today to see the Christmas trees. There are so many! We wandered around for over an hour, admiring all the incredible ornaments, the attention to detail and two huge gingerbread towers. There were an enormous amount of handmade decorations and most of the trees were very imaginative; everything from the Grinch to a robot to a beehive complete with "honey". It's pretty hard to do the trees any justice in photographs, but I tried to get some closeups of some of the more interesting ornaments.

Mostly it was just fun to watch Sonja's reaction and see her inspect every tree. ...and when we got home, she announced that our tree and ornaments are still the best. What a kid.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Instant favourite.

The robot tree. Sonja looked a little confused by this one, but she liked it.

She was a big fan of the tree covered with bird houses.

Handmade, crocheted ornaments. My Mom used to make ones like this!

Sonja loved all the different tree toppers; the bigger the better.

This entire tree is covered with handmade paper cranes. Beautiful.

One of two enormous gingerbread towers. Seriously impressive; they even have sugar-glass windows!

The beehive and "honey". One of my favourites.

Handmade paper ornaments on the tree by The Papery. Gorgeous.

Handmade ornaments on the tree by Vancouver Island Brewing.

Handmade ornaments on the tree by Ross Bay Preschool. So cute.
