Dovetails.

There are times when Sonja is at preschool and Haven and I are spending time together and I look at her and think, "Is that what Sonja was like at this age?" The answer is so much more complicated than yes or no; it's both, it's neither, it's beyond the realm of those two choices.

At the heart of it, Haven seems more outgoing than Sonja was at the same age. Outwardly, she is more confident and seems to crave social contact with other people; adults in particular.

Sonja still spends more time sussing out people and situations; she needs to be comfortable with the environment and the people around her before she comes all the way out of her shell. Once she does, she's as confident as they come.

Sonja signed more and spoke more. Haven is more dextrous with things like puzzles and hand-eye coordination. Sonja could focus intently on books and artwork. Haven will get up and dance in front of a group of strangers.

Together, apart, comparatively, contrasted. They fit and mesh together and just compliment each other so well. The perfect dovetails.
