Thin little blanket.

Haven's first real snow. Well, she saw snow last year, but only from the snug safety of the Baby Bjorn carrier.

Sonja has been asking about snow since November and now that we finally have some on the ground, Haven's reaction is kinda like, "Oh, NOW I get what you've been going on about!"

The grass was poking through all over, but I was thankful it wasn't any deeper; this thin little blanket of snow was just perfect for a first-timer because Haven could walk around in it without being up to her knees.

She was fascinated with the crunch-crunch-crunch of the snow under her feet ...but wasn't fond of the way it stuck to her mittens.

It was cold, it was peaceful and Jett played with his ball while the girls slowly walked all around the park, looking down at their feet and enjoying the feel of the snow underneath their boots.

One would follow the other and then without any visible cue they would turn and the leader would become the follower; head down, listening to the crunch and occasionally pausing to reach down and pick up some snow for inspection. They barely spoke to each other or me. They were all business.

It made me remember how much I wished for snow as a kid. I still love the snow, but watching Sonja and Haven revel in even a piddly snowfall makes me appreciate it even more.

Crunch-crunch-crunch. Pause. Crunch-crunch-crunch.

Awesome.
